Kota Iskandar, Nusajaya

In this entry I will share some of the photos that I have taken during my YES training period. Here is a brief introduction of Kota Iskandar, Nusajaya, Johor:

Kota Iskandar (the Johor State New Administrative Centre) is being developed by Cahaya Jauhar Sdn Bhd (“CJSB”), a 60:40 joint venture between UEM Land Berhad (“UEM Land”) and the Johor State Government, on 320 acres of land.  Kota Iskandar brings both the State and Federal Government offices together in one area, for better efficiency in the workings of both the State and Federal Government. The development project comprises of 5 phases:

  • Phase 1:  of Kota Iskandar comprises the Dewan Negeri Johor, the Menteri Besar and State Secretary Office Complex, two clusters of State Government Department complexes and an open plaza Dataran Mahkota. Phase 1, which is fully funded by the Johor State Government, has been completed. The Federal Government Department Complex is fully operational and was launched by the HRH The Sultan of Johor in 19th April 2009.
  • Phase 2A:  involves the development of a mosque next to the Dewan Negeri Johor, with a total capacity of 6,000 “jemaah”. Other facilities include a mini library, counselling room, seminar room, mini clinic and dialysis centre. The earthwork and piling works have been completed and the mosque is scheduled to be completed in 2010.
  • Phase 2B:  comprises the development of staff quarters for the Johor State Government in three separate parcels over 136 acres. Currently construction has not started but we expect it to be fully completed by end of 2011.
  • Phase 3:  which is still pending approval from the Federal Government, will be the development of the Federal Administrative Centre consisting of four office clusters capable of accommodating 3,000 staff from 33 departments.
  • Phase 4:  involves the development of the State Government Department complex on a site fronting the Puteri Harbour lagoon. This phase is expected to commence in 2010 and complete by 2012.
  • Phase 5:  known as Laman Jauhar, is a tourism-based project that is expected to commence in 2010 and complete in 2012.

The Kota Iskandar complex now has been officially launched and has being occupied by the Governments officers ever since.

IELTS Examination...

Ok, as you might notice that recently most of my post are not relating to photography..
This is b'coz I have been busy preparing for my IELTS (International English Learning Training System) which I need to take in-order to further my Master study at Universities in the UK.
The hotel which I stayed for the night

So the big date was on 7/7/12, and without much of a preparation I came to seat for IELTS exam at idp subang center which are located in front of Taylor College.
Final preparation
IELTS Examination Format

The exam was divided into four section, that is Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The total examination period last for about 4 hour.

And for me, the challenging section was the Reading and Writing section..!! This is b'coz when you are not used to writing long essay and have an structure idea and can write 150-300 words in 40 minutes..!!

So anyhow, I have completed the exam and the result will be released in the 3 weeks. Wish me luck..!!
As I need to score a minimum of band 6.5 in-order to be accepted in the UK's University.
Just finished the exam and heading back to South
Relaxing body and mind while waiting for sumone

Malaysia Taxi Fares = Jangan Kena kencin

As on 7/7/12 I will have an IELTS (International English Learning Training System), which I need to pass in order to further my Master study at UK. So the exam will be conducted at IDP Subang Jaya and my current location is at Johor Bahru. This required for me to find a budget hotel nearby and calculate the taxi fare from the hotel to the exam center..fuhhh, so tedious la...(tau amk dkt JB jek exam tuh..!!)

So for today entry I would like to share the taxi fare rate in Malaysia.. =,=

Nowadays taxi drivers in Malaysia love to use Meter to calculate the fares, in contrast to before where they would ask for a fix fee when passengers hop on their cab. This is because they would earn so much more simply by using the new taxi fare system.

The fee is MYR 3.00 for the first kilometer and then MYR 1.74 for every kilometer there after.

As many may have known, public transport in Malaysia is not exactly efficient. One of the problems is the location of varies train stations. Generally and averagely speaking, a person may need to travel 2-4 kilometers before reaching a station. That would be half an hour to one hour walking time. If one doesn't have that time or the stamina, she will have to take a taxi. That would be MYR 6.50 for one person one way excluding reservation or call surcharge. Return would be MYR 13. MYR 65 / week, MYR 260 a month and more than MYR 3,000 a year.

The new published rates are:
Klang Valley, KL, Johor Bahru, Melaka, KT
RM 3 ( first km or first 3 mins ) and
RM 0.10 every ( 115 meter or 21 seconds ) onwards

Penang
RM 4 ( first km or first 3 mins ) and
RM 0.10 every ( 115 meter or 21 seconds ) onwards

UNiKL MITEC OFFICIAL LAUNCHING CEREMONY

In this post I will share some of the photos that I have taken during the official launching ceremony by Minister of Rural and Regional Development, YB Dato' Seri Shafie Apdal and accompanied by Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

During this event, it is unfortunate that my DSLR is not equipped with a speedlite.

This will need the use of manual mode on my nikon D90, set the iso level to 2500 and shutter speed of 60.
for aperture level set to the lowest, which was for my nikkor 55-200mm was f4.

# DSLR: Nikon D90
# Lens: Nikkor 55-200mm, f4-5.6G

# ISO: 2500
